Many grand
restaurants cannot do without Rosenthal dinnerware. Its subtlety and durability,
the dazzling white of its porcelain, its classic and modern designs ... This exquisite
tableware combines all the grandeur of the genuine traditional German porcelain
with the ancient traditions. The company was founded by Philip Rosenthal in 1879 in Selb, Germany. After
seven years in the American company engaged in the china import, 25-year-old
Philip started by founding an art studio specializing in the porcelain
manufacture.
He reckoned
on the cheap labor, proximity to the railroad and the low prices for initial china
supplies and his reckoning was right - the new company quickly took off. In
1886, Rosenthal introduced the iconic cigar ashtray with the inscription «A
place to rest the burning cigar» which was entered in the registry of the local
royal court and achieved huge sales figures afterwards. Over the decades, the
Rosenthal Company emerged to one of the world's finest porcelain and crystal
manufacturers in the world. The founder's motto since 1900 was that «only
through better form and decor can a manufacturer win the lead over its
competition».
The Rosenthal
fine porcelain cups and plates quickly gained popularity. The main guideline
for Philipp Rosenthal & Co has always been synthesis of tradition and the
avant-garde, so though simple and elegant, each porcelain piece is a true work
of art.
One of the
latest collections, designed by well-known chief Massimiliano Alajmo, Rosenthal's
«In.Gredienti» illustrates the idea of a never-ending search for the harmony
between the form and the content. Smooth, flowing lines of Rosenthal tableware are
accentuated by the sparkling polished inside part contrasting with the dull
opaque edges, which represent «the auditorium», an amphitheater framing a
beautiful stage for haute cuisine dishes. This is a masterpiece collection
without a pattern, which boasts an amazing play of form and texture,
accentuating the exquisite, gourmet nature of the dish.
The beautiful
designs of Rosenthal tableware are created not only by the world famous chefs,
but by no less famous designers. The original focus on classic traditional
designs (marketed under «Classic Rose») turned into a whole new movement in
1961. This was when Philip Rosenthal, Jr. launched the Rosenthal Studio-Line: a
tabletop line that employed the talents of more than 100 famous artists and
designers to give day-to-day product that certain sparkle of lifestyle and an
appreciation for master quality.
In 1993,
the Rosenthal Company teamed with Versace to create a bright, expressive tableware
collection in which amazing animal patterns were combined with miniatures, and glittering
gold ornaments - with Chinese pagodas, while Greek fountains peacefully
coexisted with Perseus symbols. This collection is truly original and its black
and gold splendor is virtually irresistible. Rosenthal for Versace ranges
include Meandre, Medusa, Russian Dream, Hot Flowers, Tabletop, Barocco,
Butterfly Garden, and Hot Flowers. More refined and sophisticated, Home Designs
emerged in 1998 as a fruit of collaboration between Rosenthal and another
luxury giant, Bvlgary jewelry house. Home Designs range includes porcelain,
crystal and solid silver flatware. The original porcelain patterns are the work
of the Italian artist Davide Pizzigoni.
When
speaking about fine Rosenthal tableware, Rosenthal classic range should not be
left behind. The range incorporates the shapes and designs of the XIX century using
present-day technologies. Elegant classic patterns characteristic of the ancient
German tradition emphasize the quality of the work of the contemporary artists.
The classic never fades when it is a classic Rosenthal piece bringing new
visitors to the most famous restaurants and hotels.
An essential
part of German dining culture, Rosenthal Hutschenreuther is another prominent
family of fine china dinnerware. This line includes not only dinnerware
porcelain with fancy designs for fine dining, but also candlesticks, ashtrays,
vases, bells, figurine, jewelry and miscellaneous gift ideas designed to make
your table, your kitchen or dining room welcoming and elegant. The beauty of
the dining is not only in food which is served on the plate but in a plate
itself, in the interior design and table decoration ... That's why Rosenthal is
engaged in the manufacture of textiles and interior designs accessories. Do not
forget about wine, an important attribute of the festive table, as there is diVino
crystal line by Rosenthal. DiVino glasses are perfect for casual dining as well
for giftware.
