In 1947 the
famous Dior House brings the title of the «Fashion City» to the post-war Paris
when he launched a new collection of women wear that completely turned upside
down the comprehension and ideology of fashionmongers of the 50s. After the
show the society comprehended a woman in a new light. A great couturier saw sensitive
and delicate beauties dressed in carefully selected luxury attire instead of a
woman restricted and tired of war burdens. And this style was called New Look.
The New
Look style is possible to call a prototype of the present glamour as compared
with the appearance and the reaction from the society similar to the above. This
collection had mixed appraisals though the show was attended by the whole
Paris.
One part of
women was admired by the opportunity to turn into something like a divine with
a thin waist underlined by a girdle, with delicate shoulders and thighs
embodied with affectionate silk, while the second half of the population
involving displeased housewives and the designers Gabrielle Coco Chanel and
Balenciaga, who used to place a slogan saying «Burn Dior»!
The
abovementioned designers did not plan to sacrifice their comfort to please the
beauty. They were revolted that the democratic dress is going to be changed by
unusual attire with this girdle. And moreover, when wearing such dresses you
will not do without correction underwear, plate from whalebone and other tricks
that help women to look shapely. And the fact that this attire requires rolls
of fabric and it could weigh five to twenty kilos was the excuse for Chanel and
Balenciaga to accuse Dior House in creation of hazardous and wasteful
style.
However,
all these practical excuses could not stop women who are ready to suffer a bit
to look an ideal woman. Sophia Loren, Brigitte Bardot, Marilyne Monroe and many
other Hollywood celebrities encouraged that style.
The entire
ensemble of costumes was prepared for every particular case. And in its turn,
it brought to creation of new forms of the clothing for relaxation from bikini
to clubbing, evening and wedding attires, where this style is presented in the
shine till up to date.
By the way,
without New Look style the image of glamour lady is impossible without a
glamorous princess, so popular among the youth and older ladies who dream on
such a magic transformation, as it is seen from social questionnaires.
This year
cocktail dresses by New Look differed in the style that in 50s they closed
knees and now it is not a must. Fairy tales model of dresses with their bodice waist
fitted, and with puffy skirts to the bottom that hide all unnecessary weight in
the hips hit the spot of designers and movie stars, like Scarlett Johansson and
Eva Mendes who like to show off in such attires.
Even the
Chanel House, the main opponent of this style, presented by the main designer Karl
Lagerfeld referred to this style when showing collections of evening dresses.
Laced dress bodices in silver shades (this year this kind of trimming is
extremely fashionable), elegant embroidery and precious stones go down to puffy
skirts resembling great and luxury flowers. A young fashion girl in this dress
may look very glamorous.
Many
designers used New Look style in Autumn 2008 collections paying special
attention to thin waist and puffy skirt. Roberto Cavalli House designers
created a whole line of romantic and feminine clothing using styles and trends
of New Look.
Elie Saab
models styled New Look are slightly aggressive but very seducing.
Dior House
traditionally paid special attention to New Look style in their collections 2008-2009.
Luxury dresses and costumes from this collection are waist fitted and have
bodices.
And New
Look style plays and played a permanent role in the wedding fashion.
Thus, the
Spanish designer Jesus Peiro in his collection presented strikingly elegant and
delicate dresses where he paid a special attention to details. Close fitted
bodices and puffy skirts by Jesus Peiro are trimmed with appropriate
accessories such as pheasant feather, mini tiaras and orchids in a moderate
Eastern style.
Candy
Anthony, another designer of wedding fashion got famous thanks to his
collection of dresses styled 50s. Provocative and charming dresses make a
fiancée a real princess.
New Look style wins due to its womanhood and romanticism
for a half of century. They outdate and return to vogue again. There are always
women who strive for the unattainable ideal, who associate this image with
tender and well-cared Lady who see no borders to improve.
