Skin and
body care is an integral part of the everyday life of every modern woman.
However, beauty cannot be preserved solely with the help of expensive and even highly
effective skin care products. Medical cosmetology forges ahead and makes a huge
breakthrough every year, offering new methods of anti-ageing treatment and
aesthetic correction. Diamond peel is one of these methods.
Diamond
peel is a non-surgical method of encouraging skin renewal, a sort of
microdermabrasion. This non-surgical approach improves post-acne scarring,
stretch marks, fine wrinkles, and flaky skin and pigmentation problems.
Microdermabrasion likewise unroofs comedones (blackheads and whiteheads). The
term «microdermabrasion» was formed by merging three foreign words: «micro» -
small (in our case meaning «surface»), «derma» - skin and «abrasive». So microdermabrasion
is cleaning of skin surface.
Diamond
Peel
This
treatment uses wands with a disposable diamond tips that propels crystal flow
to the skin and also vacuums away the dirt and dead skin cells. Immediately
after treatment, the skin feels softer and smoother. Weekly treatment sessions
produce the much sought-after «pinkish glow», making one look young and
vibrant. Usually up to ten diamond tips may be used, and each of them is selected
depending on the individual properties of the skin.
Like any
other type of dermabrasion, diamond peel encourages skin renewal, aides in removing
scars, pigment spots and fine wrinkles, and restores skin structure. However,
unlike most other methods of mechanical microdermabrasion, diamond peel is less
invasive and causes less injury, as the size of diamond crystals, due to their
well-known hardness, is extremely small. This important feature ensures that
diamond peel is a safe and painless procedure, and eliminates the need for
anesthesia. Another indisputable advantage of diamond peel is the absence of powder
release, which can be achieved with the help of built-in exhaust unit, which
works in conjunction with a rotating diamond tip. Otherwise, hard diamond powder
particles could enter the upper airways and settle on the lungs of both the
aesthetician and the patient, causing irritation and severe traumatic effect.
Mechanical
removal of the upper layer of dead skin contributes not only to improved blood
circulation in the skin (and, hence, increased metabolic rate in skin tissues),
but also stimulates the formation of the connective elements which are
responsible for «young skin»: collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. Increasing
their number makes the skin more elastic, supple and fresh.
Typically,
diamond peel procedure does not require recovery period that allows patients to
immediately return to their daily work and social activities. The only
limitation is the increased care in dealing with «new» skin during the course
of after-care procedures in the first few days after the peel. During this
period, it is recommended not to stay near fire or very hot objects (to avoid
excessive heat exposure), and protect your skin from direct sunlight, alcohol-based
and other astringent skin care products.
The peeling
treatment can be processed in a clean and hygienic way because the diamond
peeling heads could be sanitized and no crystals would be left behind. Diamond
peeling knows age limitations; it can be performed on all skin types and is recommended
treatment for scars, acne or post-acne scars, large pigment spots, fine wrinkles,
etc. With up to 10 diamond peel tips that are different in size and density, diamond
peel can be used for the eyes, face, neck and body.
The number
of required diamond peel procedures can vary quite significantly depending on
the task. Thus, the removal of deep scars or tattoos may require up to twenty
sessions. Finer scars or wrinkles, as well as small pigmented spots, will
disappear after the eight to ten sessions, while to eliminate surface wrinkles
it often takes a single session. The duration of procedure is typically about
forty minutes. However, the skin has to «recover» after every session.
Therefore, you should always take session with intervals of one and a half
weeks.
The contraindications
to diamond peel include inflammatory and some infectious diseases of the skin. You
should consult your cosmetologist or dermatologist for more detailed
information on the subject. Since diamond peel is the best method to prepare
skin for effective «recharge», experts strongly recommend using special
aftercare creams, gels or other cosmetics following the procedure.
