Pilates is
a form of exercise that highlights the reasonable improvement of the body
through core strength, flexibility, and awareness in order to support
efficient, graceful movement. It is not
known to everybody, though it is effective system of exercises that helps to
avoid complications caused by traditional load exercises.
So, what the system
is and how it works? One of the
best advantages of the Pilates method is that it works so well for a wide range
of people. Athletes and dancers love it, as do seniors, women rebounding from
pregnancy, and people who at various stages of physical rehabilitation. Pilates
as the system is developed by Joseph Pilates in the first half of the previous
century who was born as the weak and sick child. Joseph did not give up and ignoring
the genetic inheritance and possessing a plenty of energy, commitment and
persistence, and he created his own system of physical exercises that was
previously assigned to improve his health condition only.
The system
appeared to be very successful and beneficial that a young man improved his
health status and even worked up as a model(!). Further the Pilates was successfully
used to restore people with injured spinal column during the time of World War
I, while today the whole Europe and America are seized with the Pilates idea.
The point is that physical load of the Pilates system make a sooth training
influence to muscles that are responsible for the shapes and correct posture. It's
not a secret that many diseases of internal organs is the consequence of the damaged
spinal column that is supported with the entire group of muscles, and that
leads to weakening of the ligamentous apparatus that keeps the internal organs
in the right position. The Pilates is assigned to strengthen all muscle bundles
of the abdominal and muscular system of the back, including the zones that are
available but not known even to professional bodybuilders.
The Pilates system does
not ensure effective cubes on your abdomen and relieves on your back to shock
ladies and young girls, though the system does not aim at it. The system ensures
the straight back, ease limpness of humeral and cervical muscles (we often feel
pain in the neck when we subconsciously strain the muscles and have a headache
because of it and spoil the posture), ease walking, flexibility, beautiful
shapes and confident movements. And these benefits form the system are highly
appreciated by those work in public and for public including actors and
dancers, show-biz stars and celebrities who use it to maintain beautiful
physiques, and athletes who use it for strength, flexibility, and injury

miracle? Not at all. This system is safe and easy to perform using a floor mat
or equipment, that will help you look and feel you very best.
Let us see
at some exercises. First, you should follow the way you breathe. Thus, the
first exercise should be devoted to breathe control. Lie on your back, bend
your legs in knees, put your hands on your stomach palms beneath or one onto
another. Count to four and slowly blow your stomach as much as possible, then
slowly take it in, trying to «touch the floor» with the anterior abdomen.
Breathe deeply. Then we
speed up a little, inhaling and exhaling counting to two. Without changing a
posture, put a hand over the head. Inhale for «2», and inhaling, you lift your upper
torso breaking your head and shoulders away off the floor. Fix the posture and
then inhale and exhale and repeat the exercise for several times. Now lift your
legs bent in knees under the straight angle with the shin parallel to the floor.
Hold your thighs from the back and lift your upper torso and lower the thighs
(straighten your hands) and perform three tensing movements towards.
The Pilates
exercises are varied to every particular purpose definitely. There are exercises
that are performed on the floor without any tools, as the one above; the others
are done with special equipment or using gym appliances that are constructed to
make some additional forces and attempts to balance on them.
The huge benefit
of the Pilates system is the absolute lack of contraindications. It is good for
any age, from kids to elderly people, after you experienced heavy surgery, including
surgery on your spinal cord, and even for the layer of the society that has
never been keen on sports.
