The number of rich people is increasing day
by day in the emerging India. While we find four more Indians, among the top
10, in the richest people list, our calculation could not be wrong at all.
Mukesh Ambani is the fifth richest people in the world. Simultaneously, he once
became the world's top rich person (possessing net worth $63.2 billion) in
October 2007, going beyond Bill Gates, (Microsoft chief) Slim Helu, (Mexican
business magnate) Warren Buffett (investment guru). Having an inherited fortune
along with self-made business, Ambani made a huge amount of wealth. He is known
as a giant entrepreneur who invested millions of dollars in different sectors
like petrochemicals, telecommunications and entertainment as well.
Sublime personality
Though people know Mukesh D. Ambani as an
Indian billionaire, he was born in Yemen in 1957. He got married with Nita. The
couple has three children, Akash, Anant and Isha. Nita is involved in her husband's company Reliance
Industries. She takes care two different sections in the company namely social
and the charitable division. Nita deserves special pleasure in traveling. Ambani's father Dhirubhai was an
established industrialist. He came into view in the business arena as a
motivating force while he later became as a legend in the realm of Indian
industry. It is said that the story shown in the Hindi film ‘Guru' is none but Dhirubhai
Ambani.
Ambani studied at different institutions
like Abaay Morischa (School level), University of Bombay, (graduation in
chemical engineering) and Stanford University, USA (Master of Business
Administration program). Some amazing qualities make Ambani different.
Despite a well-off person, he always withdraws himself from any kind of
alcohol. Moreover, he is a shy, awkward and a traditional Hindu. He is, in
fact, a vegetarian as well. Observing Ambani's extraordinary personalities,
many people compare him with Indian's most famous person Mohandas K.
Gandhi.
Unquestionably a rich man
Mukesh Ambani held the fifth position in
the list of world's richest people estimated by Forbes magazine in 2008. The
Indian wealthy person possesses more than 43 billion US dollars. Ambani keeps the ownership of ‘Mumbai
Indians', one of the strongest Premier League teams in India. He has a number of residences placed in
different cities around the world. While Ambani's Mumbai house is an
exceptional one, other residences are situated in different cities of India and
Australia.
Ambani holds the post of managing director
of Reliance Industries while at the same time he is the chairman and prime
shareholder (48%) of this company. His father, Dhirubhai Ambani, is the founder
of Reliance Industries. So there is no doubt that Ambani inherited a fortune
from his father.
It can be argued that Ambani was the
richest only for a single day. To some extent, it is fact. Because the stock
market goes with ups and downs in every day that actually determines net worth
of a company. And the billionaire list is also made on the basis of the value
of stock market in a single day. So there will be so surprises if you find any new
face in the place of Ambani in the upcoming years.
Most expensive house
Mukesh Ambani's name is very much familiar
around the globe not only for his wealth, but for highly expensive family house
- Antilia. It is supposedly the largest and costliest house in the world placed
in Mumbai. The building is now being under construction. It is planned to make 60-story
skyscraper. At least $2 billion is allocated for Antilla.
Profession is business
Ambani's self-made efforts led to expand
the Reliance. He turned it to be a profitable company. As part of expanding
business, he later founded a telecommunications company as well. Ambani's brother Anil Ambani is another
business tycoon in India. He also invested huge amount in diverse fields like
power, telecom, natural resources, financial services etc.
In the mean time, Ambani took some initiatives
to build the world's biggest oil-refining complex and to reformat India's disorganized
retail industries. Now he thinks about
founding some large retail stores around the India. A survey report shows that Indian people select
Ambani for the title of ‘businessman of the year 2007'. It was conducted by an
electronic media, NDTV. A report published in The Financial Times,
London in 2004, said Mr. Ambani would be one of the most respected business
leaders around the world. Besides, he was nominated as the most
powerful person, the telecom man in different years. Similarly, he was awarded a
lot of prizes and honor by different media and social organizations over the
years.
Dreams to come true
If you wish to know what would be Ambani's
dream after joining the rich people directory! Making money anymore! No,
Ambani's closest fellows are saying that his next vision is to work for bringing
changes in India. He is doing a great job to present a new
Mumbai before the world. Cutting out all connections of middlemen, Ambani wants
to save the country's peasants who have been allegedly cheated by them over the
years. Besides, he wishes to bring revolution in the field of production making
a good network among the factories including small producers. Ambani nowadays serves many programs in
collaboration with India government. He becomes the member of Indian prime
minister's council which works in the sector of trade and industry.
So this is time to look at Mr. Ambani. Will
this man be able to remake India implement his prodigious vision?
