In the year 2009 Renata Litvinova was known as a person who
was regularly nominated for Silver Shoes Award which was delivered for the most
doubtful achievements in show business.
She was nominated in the category We are in need of money or How to
Cheat in Show-biz for rather frivolous interpretation of the work by Gorkiy in
the performance «Notes of the crazy. Hypothesis».
The first night of the performance was scheduled to First of
April, Fool Day and we never know whether it was intentionally or not. The
critics stated afterwards that the performance is nothing but the
art-provocative action. The audience could perceive neither the idea to imagine
Gorkiy as the insane, nor the affair with the composer Oleg Karavaychuk who
featured in cameo, nor the scandalous rock singer Zemfira who appeared at the
stage wearing national Ukranian outfit, which was too outrageous and
ridiculous. The audience requested their money back since they felt like being
deceived and their expectations were not satisfied at all. Nothing was returned
to the spectator and the theatrical surveyors burst out some time later with
the sarcastic remarks towards the modern spectators with degenerative thinking
and primitive interests like drinking beer watching the regular comedy show.
The eccentric and finical Renata Litvinova never hesitated to shock the public.
If the Russian high society regularly announced nominations to win Miss Epatage
Award, Renata Litvinova would not yield no her few competitors.
Separate from others
Once Renata Litvinova was asked on which genre of the modern
cinematography she preferred. And the reply was very astonishing. She wondered:
«Shall I be in the course? Why is that? I feel to live separately from others.
As a wonderful waterfall. Or a river. Or a sea. Either heavens or a plane. I
feel like being a beautiful silver plane». She has her unique style and she
seeks to show it in everything she does,
particularly in her scripts, n the manner to perform, in her behavioral image
and in the style of clothes.
Being a daughter to Moscow doctors, Renata was not an
ordinary child, though. She felt disgust and depression when studying at school
and the only outlet for her artistic impulses was cinematography. She inherited
the love to uninterrupted movie watching from her mother. There is a family
legend that Renata being a child broke a cassette with a wrong movie into small
pieces. Renata refuses to voice the name of the cinema work that invoked such
depressing emotions till now.
When Renata got her school certificate she went to enter the
Russian State Institute of Cinematography, the Faculty of Scriptwriting. The
head of the class she studied in Isay Kuznetsov often remembered that he was
shocked with gestures of the young lady and he confirmed that at the first
sight all the manners and gestures Renata uses seemed false and fake. But later
everyone realized that was her true approach to behave.
Renata’s graduation scenario called «Fundamental and compassionate
opinion by Ali К.» hardly failed and provoked fierce negative emotions with the
reviewer.
Though, the script was approved by Kira Muratova, the
reputed director and producer. She had real intentions to shoot a film by the
script but later she changed her mind and decided to show Renata as a genius
actress. Litvinova though a while and agreed. «I never felt being an actress.
Moreover, I though my face is not for films. I always rejected all proposals to
feature in movies, though it is too difficult to say no to Kira Muratova. It is
more than impossible», she would say later.
However, Renata Litvinova was acknowledged as an actress
after she starred in the TV series by Alexander Mitt «Frontier. Love affair in
Taiga». She featured as a mollycoddled beautiful lady, Albina Voron, a lady of
aristocrat family who was brought to the military unit by wonder. Renata won the State Award of the Russian
Federation in 2000 for this role and two years later she was announced the
acknowledged the honored actress of the Russian Federation.
Thirst for transformations
Full-length film directed by Renata is the surrealistic
drama «Goddess: I Loved». The movie was premiered in 2004 and before she
offered her documentary work «No Death For Me» featuring the fate of Russian
celebrities like Nonna Mordyukova, Tatyana Okunevskaya, Tatyana Samoylova,
Lidiya Smirnova and Vera Vasilyeva.
The film critic Alexander Eksler once mentioned that Goddess
is a «delightful bull». He wrote to the movie review: «The film shows Renata
Litvinova in all her glorious chic which is pretentious, exciting, hysterical
and schizoid to some extent, clever, stylish, ironical and slightly mocking. And
this is exactly what she achieved, all in all».
In her interviews Renata mentioned always that she is the
positive person. She said: «There are more gloomy people who behave differently
and outrageous, while I am positive and swirling. I find some positive sides in
failures and downs. I am not afraid of it. I happen to go into deep depression
which nourishes me, though. But when a person is in the stability, it is flash
only. A human should suffer»!
She does not want to be and look like a flash and she needs
to splash her energy. She dissociated from directing and script writing since
2008 which was made up for the acting.
She did a lot in 2009. She featured in screen version of
Generation П written by Viktor Pelevin and directed by Viktor Ginzburg. Her
filmography includes roles in tragicomedy about travesty in Merry Fellows by
Felix Mikhailov, historical action Prikazano unichtozhit. Operatsiya
«Kitayskaya shkatulka» by Sergey Bobrov, Pseudoname for the Hero by Roman Kachanov,
adventurous drama by Sergey Debizhev Season of Rain, Melody for Barrel Organ by
Kira Muratova and mystic comedy for children Sacred Cup by Ekaterina Gorokhova.
She does not limit her activities, though. Since recently
she makes steps towards the fashion world penetration. Along with the brand
ZARINA Renata Litvinova presented the exclusive series of women wear
Spring-Summer’ 10. Renata is always feeling thirsty for new accomplishments and
it is obvious that there is no room for her in the cinematography. She is
willing to break the borders and fly.
