Baume & Mercier presents Swiss watches that inherited
all the ancient traditions. It is one of the ancient watchmaking companies, and
the trend-setter in modern watch making industry. Yet, thisis
a reasonable position for the
company. Even two centuries later the brand still remains the sense of time and the
inspiration to be the leader. This company is established in 1830 by Baume
brothers, the men of charismatic personalities who feel emotions of each others
and share opinions to perfectly collaborate with the aim to get the perfection
in what they did - creation of perfect watches.
Louis Victor and Pierre-Joseph-Celestin Baume
establishes Frères Baume in the village Les Bois located in the Swiss Jura
mountains in 1830.
The second stage of the Company development occurs
when Baume is managed by two leaders, Louis-Victor's son, Alcide Eugene heads
the Swiss firm while Alcide's brother, Arthur Joseph, manages the branch in London.
Whereas lots of companies sink into the oblivion that
time, in the early of XX century the Company initiates the third stage of their
development strategy. The prosperity time for the Baume & Mercier comes
after they merge with Paul Mercier, the brilliant businessman. This alliance results
in creation of the extremely successful watches Baume & Mercier, the sports
chronographs, the first sports watches that look really luxury.
The entity «Baume & Mercier Genève» trademark is
registered in August 27, 1920. And since that time, Baume & Mercier
timepieces are spread in many parts of the world.
In 1937 Paul Mercier leaves the Company but the fresh
concepts and ideas come with Constantin de Gorski, the Polish artist who
breathes new life into the Company.
The Marquise watch becomes the triumph in 1950 when it
is launched. The watches are so much admired and respected by wealthy people.
The legendary Piaget purchases Baume & Mercier in
1964. And very soon in 1973 the Company creates the legendary Riviera watch. The success of the timepiece provokes
the designers to create a finer Riviera
watch for the fairer sex to be the quintessence of female elegance.
The Riviera L for ladies has a 12-sided case shape, a
peculiarity of a Riviera
watch. Though, the case is thinner.
In 1987 the Company launches another model Linea that symbolizes
only femininity and audacity.
In 1988 the watchmaking house is introduced into the
PBM International, a group specialized in the production and distribution of
luxury watches under supervision by Cartier.
Hampton, the flagship model is created by the Company in 1994,
that results in the series of models of the same line, namely Hampton Milleis
of 1999, Hampton Spirit of 2002, Hampton
City of 2003 and the
Hampton Classic square of 2005.
As the other stage of development, Baume & Mercier
enters the Vendôme group in 1996. The following year the Company creates the
Catwalk watch. Another legendary sport watches that distinguishes with its
elegance and luxury is CapeLand, presented by the Company in 1998.
In 1999 Baume & Mercier becomes a member of another
group, Richemont group and launches the first watch-jewel for ladies Vice Versa
that displays time wrist side down.
Being open to fresh ideas, Baume & Mercier creates
the elegant classic stuff that is always in vogue and demanded. These watches are
popular in
Europe and
North America.
Being one of the trend-setters in watchmaking
industry, Baume & Mercier creates collections acknowledged in the whole
world, that is Riviera и Hampton named after the most respected resorts in the world.
