The fashion changes as the woman changes her mood. It really
does and it is easily seen in collections of accessories and jewelry different
from season to season. This is the challenge to bring the new breathe to the old
outdated attires. We are aware that perfectly suited jewelry may be the zest of
the image, while the clothes, shoes, hairdo and makeup look as the background
only. And pectoral is such the jewelry.
The new things is merely the old good things
Only rare people know about pectoral. This jewelry is
practiced in the public from the recent times only though it was demanded from
the ancient times. The most famous pectoral is the Scythian one. That was like
an accessory and the protection for the warriors. Pectoral was mad from the
metal sheets to cover the upper torso, shoulders and the neck to provide the
additional protection.
The pectoral found the popularity in Ancient Egypt and then
in Europe.
The Iron Age is known for this jewelry when the pectoral
served both men-warriors and women becoming the jewelry only. It always looked
differently. Thus, in the East the pectoral appeared as the wide half-moon made
from gold or silver. That jewelry was abundantly decorated with precious
stones. The pectoral was popular which is shown on much papyrus seen at our
ages.
The pectoral was known as the bowl in Europe with metal
chains worn in the way as modern women wear bras. Such pectorals were made from
steel, gold and silver and were decorated with coining or stones.
The pectoral looked short to cover the throat, shoulders and
the upper torso only though there were the models that went to the waist line.
Sometimes the jewelry appeared as the decoration made from the cast gold and
sometimes it looked as the delicate bond of thin and delicate chains. With the
lapse of time the pectoral became more and more delicate and refined and did
not look like armours at all.
This decoration served as the prototype for the torture
instrument practiced when witches were questioned and tortured afterwards.
Such decoration would made hot and attached to the suspect
to force to confess something.
In view of that people forgot about the beauty of pectoral
and the fashion made it popular again.
Modern pectoral
In 2009 the designers launched collections where they paid their
attention to the necklaces, beads and chains. The pectoral was seen in collections
by Tiffany & Co, though the modern model of the pectoral looks far away
from what it looked some centuries ago. The collections by Bezel Link, Stacking
and Twist by Tiffany & Co offer the pectoral for the modern woman as the
bulky crescent-shaped necklace. The traditional silver and white gold, elegant
gems and stresses make the jewelry luxury and worth wearing for any solemn
event.
The Italian designer G.Raspini launched the collection of
silver jewelry CHARMS&Co, where the pectorals were presented in the modern
style. From the point of view of the designer, the pectoral looks like a solid
jewelry as if weaved from many silver chains and coins, decorated with intricate
figures.
The hand-made pectorals are marketed currently and such
decorations created by the fanciful designers and artists appear as the
alternative to the expensive jewelry recognized by the legendary designers.
Pectorals are frequently seen in the markets and stores of Egypt, Turkey and
India. Today pectorals come made from enamel, glass, plastic, wood, metal and
leather. In view those ethnic patterns
are fashionable, the exotic types of pectorals are also trendy.
Pectoral is not the simple jewelry. It is created to wear
for solemn events and functions, with evening dresses. Today the designers use
different material for pectorals, apart from gems and precious stones which
make them popular to wear for the every day events. The pectoral looks
beneficial with the plain dress and it is acknowledged as one of the unique
uniform accessories and the perfect gift from designers this year.
