Fashions for spring-summer
2010 promise a real revolution when it comes to accessories. The style of the
entire look is set by jewelry; bracelets being designers' favorite fashion
statement. Spring-summer 2010 season sees lots of bracelets worn all over the
arm, from wrists to forearms. And the diversity of styles and designs is huge.
However, two things should be taken into account if you decide to opt for this
trend. First, when you go with bracelets you must avoid any other ornamental
detail in the cuff area, including fancy cuffs, long gloves and stuff like
that. Second, you should wear identical bracelets or sets of bracelets on both
your wrists.
The perfect trendy bracelet
for spring-summer 2010 may combine various materials and textures with unique
pattern sometimes bejeweled with chunky rhinestones. But that's not all. To be
trendy, bracelet must meet a number or other requirements.
Chunky
Chunky bracelets are
enjoying comeback this spring. The more massive a bracelet looks the better.
Whether wooden, plastic or metallic, bracelets must be big this spring. Punk or
rocker style wide studded bracelets are hot, especially when mixed and matched
with sophisticated silver or gold jewelry or crystal bejeweled bangles.
The chunky effect can also
be achieved by piling lots of regular non-spectacular bangles. Thin wire
bangles are great for summer, but fall brings heavier and much thicker
bracelets in colored enamels and attention-grabbing gold. Go for heavier pieces
that balance out wool and cashmere sweaters and will not get lost in your total
look. This spring, bracelets take nearly the whole arm length, from wrist to
forearm. In the looks offered by Jean Paul Gautier and Chanel these accessories
have replaced the sleeves. Moreover, Jean Paul Gaultier preferred plastic to
other materials and made very extravagant bracelets which could be worn on
forearms and elbows. John Galliano and Lanvin created very elaborate and chic
pieces, with lots of beads, chains and gemstones. Gucci and Missoni created
simple metallic pieces for everyday wear, while Oscar de la Renta went a more traditional
path and made universal-looking bracelets. Richard Nicoll, on the contrary,
used less conventional shapes. He used fabric and beads to create his works of
art.
Ethnic Motives
Those in love with
ethnic and tribal jewelry should turn to Australia for inspiration. Global
fashion community was amazed at the works of local designers experimenting with
ancient tribal ornaments. However, it's not wise to discard the styles offered
by Twenty8Twelve, Anna Sui, Milly, and Ellery. Dolce&Gabbana items look
luxurious. They are adorned with coins and black gemstones, just like gypsy
charms. Huge, corpulent beads with an ethnic style strung onto elastic are a
great look for next summer. Practical, easy, affordable and trendy - what could
be better?
Animal Prints
This spring, bracelets
feature various animal prints, from owls and lizards to snakes. Roberto Cavalli
created bracelets encrusted with bright shining crystals. Known for her passion
for serpents, Angelina Jolie launched her own jewelry collection, including mostly
rings and bracelets. Most of Jolie serpentine-like bracelets are made of silver
and encrusted with diamonds and emeralds.
Charms
Charm bracelets have
been around for quite some time now, so why would interest peak this year as
opposed to any other? It's all about individuality. A charm bracelet out the
box is nothing more than a manufacturer or designer telling you who they think
you should be. The ability to customize a charm bracelet is you telling the
world who you know you are. Diamond charms add a touch of elegance and luxury
to a previously teen-driven jewelry trend.
Flowers
Bracelets featuring
flower patterns and motives are found in Chanel, Oscar de la Renta, Marni and Marc
Jacobs collections. Chunky wooden or brass bracelets decorated with a single large
flower should be worn in pairs, on both or one hand. Delicate bangles with
dangling chains with budding flowers should be matched to the outfit and
clutch.
Anklets
Anklet is one of those
accessories which suit almost every outfit. From jeans to skirt, from short
dresses to full length gowns, ankle bracelets look good with everything. Even
though anklet is mostly associated with young girls, designer charm anklet can
be worn by women of all ages, thanks to their wide range of designs. Ankle
bracelets with freshwater pearls or Swarovski crystals look very elegant and
appropriate for both older and young women.
