Ties make
far more essential influence to the image of a man rather than the place it
takes in the costume. Moreover, a tie is the most expressive details of the
wardrobe that helps to appreciate the personality of a man. Therefore,
throughout the history all men pay a great attention to this small element,
from men of Kin Dynasty or Roman legionaries with neck kerchiefs to Louis XIV
in his lacy jabot.
A tie
correctly chosen and properly tied is a good instrument to judge on the
elegant, solid and respectable man.
There are simple
rules to help you create the blameless image if properly followed.
Rule 1. Almost
every tie is good with white shirt, though in summer the tie should be of
lighter shades and the darker ties are best to wear in winter. The ratio when
the tie should be darker than the shirt but lighter than the jacket should be
followed. The pattern on the tie should match the color of the shirt, whether
in stripes or lines.
Rule 2: Ties with prints should compliment single-color
shirts and vice versa, smooth and one-color ties go with striped or lined
shirts. A tie with solid stripes is the good way to look as a person of
traditional classic taste and preferences. Within smart casual style ties allow
polka dot, geometrical shapes and more extravagant patterns, as the oriental «cucumber»
pattern, but the color gamut should be of moderate and solid shades from cream
and beige to blue-grey. The official functions require ties with weaved
patterns.
Rule 3. The
knotted tie should cover the clasp of the men's belt, while in width it should
go with the width of the lapels and the total design of the suit.
Rule
4. If you are the owner of the
smooth and one-color suit, you'd better have a tie with large print to match.
And the suit with stripes or checks is good to compliment with a modest tie
with a fine pattern or a one-color one.
Rule
5. Avoid using short ties with
solid prints like emblems, arms and also ties with pictures of beautiful girls
under beach umbrellas; such ties look anti-elegantly.
Rule 6. A tie is good to select to
match the color of suit and shirt, and do not forget your complexion! Rounded face is too discording with
intense «geometric» pattern and with this complexion a print with softer lines
is better, while men with solid and brave jaws will look ridiculous when
wearing ties with striped and checked prints.
Rule 7. A tie looks not that good
if you wear it with the short-sleeved shirt.
As for the
fabric for ties, the best models are performed from silk, though
synthetic fabric
for ties is also widely-practiced. Also ties come from mixed fabric,
cashmere,
wool, flax or viscose to have cheaper output. When buying a tie, never
choose a cheaper one! The accessory that builds your image deserves
to be paid more!
Nicely
looking tie from viscose will loose its shape quickly and ruins the look at the
same time. On the other hand, are you ready to purchase some dozen of perfect
Italian ties for everyday wear? Ties should be in abundance while the suit is
enough to be one.
Bear in mind
that ties are not recommended to expose to washing and ironing,
otherwise they
loose their look and shape. You'd better take them to the dry-cleaning
and if
your tie gets crumpled, you may wind it round a pencil and leave it for
a
while. Never untie the knot of the tie taking a narrower end off the
knot,
otherwise the tie will be damaged and it is a pity especially if the
tie is
expensive and quality. You'd better untie this item in the sequence as
you tied it, and then put in onto the hanger and live for a couple of
days. Men use lots of ways to tie a knot and most of
them find it quite easy to learn how to tie the knots. However,
consider this
process with all carefulness and accuracy, since as Oscar Wild stated
that «properly
tied knot on the tie is the first true step in your life» and many will
agree
to that now.
