Trousers
are basic and essential item of any man's wardrobe. A gentleman, regardless of
his style and age, should always have a choice of trousers, either in one
style, or in a variety of styles to match various occasions which are
appropriate for his lifestyle, career or leisure. Trousers trends are less
changeable than trends for female clothing items, which are always more prone
to transformation and change. Whatever trousers style a man chose, he must make
sure that they fit perfectly, because there is nothing more ridiculous and
absurd than a gentleman in baggy or tight trousers. They totally ruin the overall impression and deprive
a woman of a chance to see the Prince Charming hidden under this absurd garment.
Make sure
to pick trousers according to your height. Ideally, trousers should cover your
shoes, but not dismally fall down in folds. To find more or less fitting length,
when wearing trousers, take a step forward and see if the toe is visible. If it
is, then trousers should be longer. The lapel provided on the trousers should
not exceed 3-4 centimeters.
Your trousers should cover the upper of your shoes forming a slight crease and reach
the upper part of the heel. The rear part of the classic trousers should fit perfectly,
be neither skin-tight, nor loose, and not pucker. The frontal area should not
fit too closely outlining the underwear, but it shouldn't form those ugly bulbs
which is often the case with the pants for overweight men.
In respect of
the pockets, which most men use to nonchalantly hide their fingers in, you can base
your choice of trousers on your style and purpose. Vertical pockets made along
in the seam look inconspicuous which is typical for classical pleated or casual
models. Your keys, wallet, and other useful little objects should be better
carried elsewhere, as bulging pockets look ugly and sloppy. Teen styles are
another thing. Clearly outlined pockets will attract the attention of young
fashion-conscious men, especially if the pants are baggy and allow for multiple
pockets, which could and sometimes even should be pulled down.
Over time,
the fabric of men's trousers has become so varied that the believers in gray-and-black
classics have nothing to do but wonder and envy their less conservative peers
who choose to go for more unconventional pants colors. Traditional summer
fabrics, linen and cotton, are perfect both for a hot office cubicle and an
informal walk around the city. Tweed and wool, both in houndstooth and plaid
variations, will warm you during the cold winter days. Practically, they are
good in any variation, but the simpler the better. A popular model of trousers,
drainpipe pants - the ultimate interpretation of the casual style - combine
well with a new trend of using velour and velvet. Owing to their texture, they
do not need any additional patterns or decorative elements. Leather pants now
belong exclusively to the stage, so leave them for the rock stars.
The latest designer
collections proved that the trend for drainpipe and close-fitting pants is now as
hot as ever - of course, if you trust Dior, Christian Lacroix and Thierry
Mugler. The latter, by the way, added to trendy drainpipes wide baggy trousers
with pleats gradually narrowing down. Super-skinny pants were offered by Gucci.
We have to admit that their version is closer to leggings, and is unlikely to
find many admirers among average men. However, the general trousers trend is stated
- narrowed width.
Preferable
colors of men's trousers are neutral, subdued, earthy tones, as trousers should
not dominate the outfit. Warm earthy tones of brown are present in most designer
collections in 2009. Powder and midnight blue, charcoal and conventional black
are also favorites of today's men's fashion, which is proved by the Calvin
Klein show.
