Tahiti is not the place. It is the idea. The image. It is charming
white sand beaches, various shades of ocean blue, palms and the tropic sun.
Tahiti still resembles the vivid paintings by Paul Gauguin as if coated with
the shining vanish. A plenty of multi-color birds, looking like flowers and
luxury flowers looking like birds, a majestic waterfall and cool rivers.
Tahiti is the place where the sun rises. Tahiti and the
islands is the symbol of the wonderful rest on the seashore from the old times.
The Czech social anthropologist Miloslav Steangle stated not in vain: «I dream
– why not confess it? I dreamt of this island more than of any other place in
this world. The word Tahiti was like a sweet singing of siren, the legendary
heaven music. Tahiti! Оh, Tahiti!».
The dreams about Tahiti were inspired with the canvases
created by Gauguin with the legend on «Bounty» and the riot as the symbol of
freedom and happiness. They say that Gauguin promoted the idea about Tahiti and
it seems like that. The famous paintings by the legendary painter show the
islands so «deliciously» that everyone believes that Tahiti is the real
paradise. This is the place for the paradise delight. This is what we want to
see and perceive, though the real things that occur now in Tahiti concern more
prosaic things, like investments.
So, it is useless to purchase the real estate on Tahiti to
live there on your own. It does not make sense at all. Only it matters if you are
retired and plan to devote the rest of your life to self-meditation (at least,
perception of the environment, sea and waves). As an alternative, fishing,
diving, surfing and windsurfing are the kinds of water rest and sports
practiced there. And that’s all for it.
Business on Tahiti includes the vanilla plantations, coconut
groves, copra, production and cultivation of black pearl and tattoo. Besides, it is the place where the various
souvenir manufacture is profitable, including ikebana made from tropic flowers
(orchids are especially amazing), bread baking (though this business niche is
occupied by the Chinese businessmen). That’s all again in this sphere.
All is done already and nothing to do left. The folk
villages are guilt and they successfully function. And considering the size of
the islands, two folk villages have nothing to do there. So, the only thing to
do is the relaxing or active rest.
If you are not the genius like Gauguin, then the intention
to acquire the real estate on Tahiti may be based on the willing to earn from
further leasing. Thus, according to the informational portal Global Property
Guide the first place goes to Tahiti in the top ten attractive countries where
it matters to acquire the real estate for leasing purposes and tourism.
The tourists arrive to Tahiti in abundance. They accommodate
in bungalows on piles and enjoy the fishes under the «floor» (in some bungalows
the floor is made translucent for entertainment purposes), and taste the
Polynesia kitchen courses. And they pay from $50 to $1000 US dollars per day to
stay in bungalow and the price varies from the class of bungalow. The worst
variant is when the bungalow looks like a shelter with several beds in one room
and a couple of chairs on the combined terrace are around $20 US dollars per
day. And this is not a boarding house but the price for accommodation only.
Food is not included. And prices on Tahiti are significantly different from
what they were when Gauguin was there. The civilization depraves and prices go up.
The annual profit from the leasing of the Tahitian property makes
15% which is the highest profit interest on leasing in the world. The prices
for the real estate go up even today when the world financial crisis destroys
the markets of real estates.
The only problem is that the purchase of real estate on
Tahiti is impossible. The law stipulates that the non-resident is not entitled
to purchase the land on Tahiti if lived there lesser than for the particular
period of time. And this period totals 5
to 10 years, depending on the island where the real estate is located you want
to acquire.
And there are rare people who are willing to be engaged in
surfing or diving within 5 to 10 years visiting just a few Tahitian
sightseeing. Thus, Tahiti is not in the list of countries providing «real
estate abroad» and is not absolutely appreciated as the place for profitable
investments whatever informational portals state.
