secret as the latest scents. Every new approach in making perfume proves the announcement
of uniqueness and sensitivity of scents which come with newer accords and notes
in regards to various day period and spirit of the wearer. As the Givenchy
perfumers state this perfume is the DNA-composition, the heart of the perfumery
concern, the vivifying water nourishing the feelings of Givenchy admirers. And
what is the secret of the magic perfume Ange ou Démon?
Creation
history
Two talented
perfumers, Olivier Cresp and Jean Pierre Bethouart, are the ones who created
the aroma composition. By the way, these perfumers also contributed to creation
of Armand Basi Homme (1999), Versace V/S Woman (1998), Kenzo Amour (2006, together
with Daphne Bugey), Kenzo L'Eau Par Kenzo (1996) and Moschino I Love Love
(2005). The bottle of fragrance was designed by Serge Mansau, the author to
such reputed fragrances as Dolce Vita by Dior, Cavalli by Cavalli and Kenzo
pour Homme. By the words of Givenchy House representatives, Serge Mansau
managed to cope with the task assigned to him perfectly and he presented a drop
of perfume in the glass opalescent from dark to translucent. In some time of
team work, this legendary trio launched the new scent in the middle of 2006
called Ange ou Démon.
The bunch
of scent
Ange ou
Démon perfume refers to the flower-oriented group of fragrances with the strong
spicy trail which opens with the notes of the white thyme, mandarin orange from
Calabria and
essence of saffron. Top notes smoothly go to the middle note of maxillaria
orchid, lily and ylang-ylang, while the base notes made of vanilla, tonka bean,
rosewood and oak wood that embrace a lady with a magic trail. Ange ou Démon was
designed as the magic secret of a Lady who opens her heart when she wants it. The
fragrance votes for the struggle of contrasting gender accords to accentuate
lightness of the scent and heavy spicy notes to tell about passion and demonic
energy hidden under the angel image. Yet, the perfume creators managed to build
the composition of fragrance for the true confident lady.
The fragrance
is not deemed classic to its full extent though the fashion critics still refer
it to the collections of exclusive perfume compositions.
Presentation of fragrance
Marie Steiss, a French
model and an actress, was shot as the face and the spokesperson of Ange ou Démon by Givenchy at advertising
campaigns among other claimants. When she was announced the face of fragrance in
2006, it was revealed that she was a daughter to the former Prime Minister Dominique
de Villepin. Such «dual nature» was considered as the good superstition and ,
therefore, commercials with Marie were presented in every corner of the world.
The perfume
was presented in the old mansion and there in the hall two posters of Marie Steiss were installed in the
images of an Angel and Demon of enormous sizes. The mansion was decorated a-la
rococo accentuating crystal candleholders. The show was intriguing and
unforgettable, as the tabloids cried afterwards.
The musical
composition to the presentation was made by the little-known German group Klee.
The song was called too simple and laconic - «Gold» and it was too appropriate
to the image of the French perfumery of new style as ever.
Later versions
Later on
several versions of the perfume were launched accentuating every single accord
from the basic composition distinguishing every single perfume against others. The
latest fragrance was unveiled in 2009 called Ange ou Démon Le secret. The bottle
was designed by the same Serge Mansau though the shape was the same, either. The
sense undergone changes and now it is the pendant with the translucent
tender-pink perfume. The muse of Quentin Tarantino, the Hollywood diva Uma Turman was the face of the ad campaign
wearing a lavish dress by Riccardo Tisci. The video was shot by the
famous Indian director Mira Nair.
Such celebrities
as Madonna, Cameron Diaz and Ali Larter like wearing Ange ou Démon by Givenchy
to complement their images for various occasions.
