Female skin looks beautiful when it's clean
and smooth. This is what the fashion tells us. A modern woman would wear quite open or even half-sheer dresses which
doesn't expects hair growing somewhere it should not. That is exactly why hair
removal all over one's body is so demanded right now.
What does Depilation Mean and the Kinds of
It
Depilation means the removal of the
external visual part of the hair without removing the hair bulb so basically it
is a temporary removal. Depilation can both be mechanical (such as shaving,
picking or plucking) or chemical (where lotions, specific creams and such are
being used).
Depilation Contraindications
The contraindications for depilation would
be chronic skin diseases (such as eczema, psoriasis, neurodermasis, herpes,
cicatricial cheloids, warts, tumors, etc.), chronic diabetes, idiopathic
hypertensia, coronary diseases, phlebeurysm, and acute inflectional diseases.
One should not attempt any of the depilation kind in case one is undergoing a
course of the hormonotherapy.
The Shaving
For shaving kind of depilation a razor is
being used. The advantage for this type of depilation is the simplicity,
availability and indolence. However this type of depilation is known for not lasting
for too long plus the feelings of hair growing back is very unpleasant (rashes
in bikini areas, armpit etc.). Even though it is scientifically proven today
that shaving the hairs on the body does not lead to the hair growing harder and
the hair being thicker, women rarely use this type of depilation and prefer
more feminine ways of doing it. There are special female razors out there that
differ from male ones with their form and colors.
The Plucking
Plucking means picking out the hairs with
the help of a pair of tweezers. Plucking may damage the hair bulb and adjust
its growth so that the hair gets thicker and starts growing more intense.
Plucking is believed to be a cheap home-made type of depilation which is often
used by women especially to adjust the way the eyebrow grows. A disadvantage of
this method would be the soreness of it and therefore the impossibility of
removing hair in the bikini and armpit areas. There are special instruments out
there called epilators which were specially designed to help in plucking.
The Chemical Depilation
The means of chemical depilation (known as
depilating agents) are being sold as creams, gels, lotions, aerosols and so on.
Depilating agents contain thioglycolic acid which weakens the link between
hairs cells and the hair is therefore destroyed. The hair follicul is not
damaged with this type of depilation. The depilation agents often contain
ferments (an organic material that increase the chemical processes hugely). The
depilation agents are very sensitive to skin's temperature and acidity and if
the skin is weak or simply diseased then the depilation agents lose their
powers. The hair growth is not affected by the use of depilation agents.
Before using the depilating agents one
should carry out a test on the individual sensitivity to the agent. An
instruction that is sold together with the depilation agent will tell one how
to carry the test out.
Depilation agents are usually used for
certain areas such as legs' area, bikini area, armpit area, facial area, etc.
The difference is usually seen in the concentration of the acid in the
chemical: the sensitive facial area requires less concentration of the stuff
than the legs area does.
Depilation agents are never used for
eyebrows' hair removal since if the chemical gets into one's eye it might
easily burn it. After carrying out a chemical depilation one cannot shave, go
sun tanning, cannot carry out a bio-capillurgy (the hairs you've missed are
better to be removed with a pair of tweezers), another chemical depilation (not
before three of four days after the first one).
Waxing
Waxing type of depilation is being called
bio-capillurgy more often today even though it is still a depilation, since the
hair follicul is not affected by it. While waxing the hairs stick to the
applied wax and then after the wax chills the hair is being removed. Since the
hair bulb is still being damaged by this method, their growth slows down (but
not completely).
Different types of waxes and different
bio-capillurgy sets which consist not only from the wax but also from the cleaning
lotions as well as moistures; creams and other goods are being sold today.
Sugar Paste Depilation
Sugar Paste Depilation is when a stick with
warm thick paste, containing sugar, on it is used to apply the paste to the
hairs (not touching the skin itself). Once the paste freezes it is being
removed with the hair it covered. Some believe that this way the skin is
damaged less comparing to the waxing. Hair doesn't grow for long after this
type of depilation, sometimes up to six weeks.
Women used different types of depilation to
remove hair from their bodies for a long time. It is proven that even in
Ancient Egypt women removed hair from their bodies. To be honest the ways they
do it and the ways they look at the depilation today did not change radically.
Who knows, maybe that is good thing?
