Ingrown hairs aka Psuedofolliculitis Barbae (PFB), hair bumps, shaving
bumps, razor bumps, razor burn and ingrowns are unsightly and painful. Ingrown
hairs is the problem of people who do the epilation at home. A range of home
remedies that help to remove the unwanted hair is too limited. Wax, razor,
cream, electrical epilator is what we can rely on. We know well that the
mechanic depilating affects the structure of hair.
As a rule, hair grows thicker and rougher. It is the result of shaving
when the hair gets
trapped inside the follicle or grows back into the skin. Household
remedies we
use for depilating are good to use, though they are not strong and
effective
enough to remove the hair with the hair bulb, and they remove just the
part of
hair that grows on the surface. In the shortest time the hair grows too
tough
and it finds too hard to grow through the skin which is the real cause
for the
inborn hair. It is evidently seen with
dry skin. If you do the epilation process properly, you may avoid these
troubles, and the most important thing is that you have to use the
special
remedies to remove hair fully.
How
dangerous is the ingrown hair
Ingrown
hair is not a
disease though this may cause troubles. The black dots of the ingrown hair will
be visual on the skin that may cause irritation and serious inflammation.
Moreover, the ingrown hair may let rot. If you take independent actions to remove
the ingrown hair with the tweezers or a needle it may have the infection come
into the follicles which can result in pigment spots of brown color in places
where the ingrown hair was.
Psuedofolliculitis should be removed without injuring the skin. It is
impossible to do at home, thus you'd better seek for the help of the
cosmetologist.
Alternative epilating procedures
Hair depilating is the ordinary regular procedure for most women and some
men who cannot refuse from this procedure. Though, you should stop using means that
bring to ingrown hair.
The alternative depilating procedures are better to use, since there is
a wide variety of them. Let's consider
photoepilation. The procedure is based upon the exposure of the hair bulb to
the light. Alternating light destroys the hair roots which prevent the hair to
grow into the skin. And the hair on the surface of the skin dies within several
days. This is because the hair cannot grow withoutroots. This procedure is not instantaneous.
And it is impossible to remove
hair for longer period within a single procedure. 3 to 5 weeks are required to
remove all unwanted hair on your problematic areas. After you have this
procedure applied on you, you may forget about unwanted hair for longer time,
and it stops growing with many people for some reasons. Photo depilation is not
recommended for people freshly tanned, pregnant women and those who breastfeed,
people who have tumors or skin inflammations. After the procedure, the skin
required tender loving care.
The other more propagated technique is bio-epilation. This is when wax
is used to remove unwanted hair. This technique is popular from the times of
Ancient Edypt. This procedure is good to work separately and in concert with
the other depilating methods, like to compliment the photo epilation. Waxing
removes hair with the bulb which prevents it from growing inside the skin. When
waxing, be sure to pull the hair out by the roots. Do not allow the hair to
break below the skin surface. Waxing is not comfortable to do at home removing
hair from all problem zones, to avoid irritation and breaking hair, while the
professionals in the salons are able to do the waxing procedure quickly and
effectively. Waxing make you forget about epilating procedure for 2 - 4 weeks.
Prevention means
Not everyone can afford having salon procedures when it is needed.
Unfortunately, some procedures are too costly, the others have
contraindications to something and you cannot have them done for you. And
sometimes a woman has to do epilation by herself. And razor is far more
preferred here than the electric epilator.
Some experts recommend that the area that needs to be epilated should be
exfoliated first to remove some of the dead skin cells in the top layer of skin
cells that often help to trap the hairs.
Exfoliating procedure may be done with creams, body gels or lotions, to
some extent abrasive washcloth or special exfoliation glove. After you need to
apply the means that prevent hairs to grow inside, soothe the follicles and
moisturize the skin.
Spread some gel or mousse before you start shaving. A common hair conditioner
is also good to use instead of the shaving gel since it perfectly evens the
skin surface, soothes it makes it comfortable for the razor to slide well. The skin
should be well-moisturized, otherwise it will get irritated. Shave towards the hair
growth, not backward. If you shave backward the hair growth, you risk having
more ingrown hairs than ever. Do not worry that the shaving in this way does
not remove the upper hair fully. If your razor is sharp enough, your skin will
quickly get even and smooth. Apply after shaving moisturizers and disinfectants
to avoid infections to come into the follicles that cause irritation, in its
turn.
You are not recommended to shave every day, especially if you have dry
and sensitive skin. If you shave once a week, it may be safe for you.
Inborn hair may appear spontaneously even when you
are sure to do the home depilation by the adopted rules. If you have the
procedures done in the salon, you may avoid having such a trouble. And you are
likely to enjoy a smooth and even skin if you decide to take turns visiting
salons and having the depilating procedures at home.
