Before creation
of Lanvin fragrances were handed to the reputed perfumers, the French fashion House
could only boast with scents created by the mysterious Madame Zed, a lady of
Russian origin and unique style. Lanvin has kept her name and personality in secret
for a long time for the public. In the meantime, in the early 20s Madame Zed offered
a few scents for Lanvin inspired by her traveling impressions. So, La Dogaresse made real the
beauty of the Venetian palazzo and the mystifying feeling of Italian street canals. Yet, the Geranium d'Espagne
really shed the warmth of the sun inside the stone masonry in Seville streets.
In the year
1924 Madame Zed launched Lanvin My Sin fragrance that was accepted widely and
that was one of the last fragrances created by her.
Madame Zed worked
on about ten fragrances for Lanvin in total though some sources insist on
twelve to fifteen. However, none of those fragrances became so much winning for
business. Nonetheless, in 1924 the situation in perfumery industry for Lanvin
changed drastically and the fragrance Lanvin My Sin that sounds as Mon Peche in
French language, which is more sensual and provocative, could fight among the
most legendary fragrance of the time, Lanvin Arpege. The fragrance was released a few years later,
though. However, the demand for Lanvin My Sin
overdid other fragrances of the house.
The perfumery
formulation of the fragrance was stimulating to the highest extent,
along with
its name. Actually, Lanvin My Sin came to knowledge on the international
level
and this perfume furthered the Lanvin House to go into the perfume
industry of France with the triumph, and Europe and USA later on.
The fragrance was the real breakthrough for Lanvin, and soon the Company
established its own laboratory in France and the most recognized
perfumer of
that time Andre Fraysse was invited to create for Lanvin. Fraysse was
the real
revolutionary person in the industry of fragrances and he also worked on
Lanvin
Arpege, one of the well-known scents of the brand.
Lanvin My
Sin is the item belonging to the 20s of the previous century. This puzzling, exotic
and seductive scent reminds of the atmosphere of the century with women wearing
corsages and long gloves to accentuage the beauty of hands. Those ladies appreciated
luxury life even in every day items to enjoy the freedom of the new epoch. My Sin
can be named the ideal fragrance of classic perfumery of the 20s from previous
century with the typical floral to aldehyde accords. The aldehyde notes make
the scent smoother in My Sin and the sweet blend of jasmine and ylang-ylang is
not that luscious. The perfume blend of My Sin is built on the notes of aldehydes,
bergamot, lemon, musk, neroli, ylang-ylang, jasmine, rose, clove, lily of the
valley, vanilla, vetiver, wood, clary sage and zibet. The fragrance proves for its
provocative name and it exerts as much attention as the legendary Dior Poison
for its blend. The composition of My Sin seems too expressive and incredibly
tempting blended with the notes of aldehydes, lavish bouquet of flowers in
heart notes ending in darker and richer notes.
The perfumery
line for Lanvin was insignificant direction of the major business, and thus,
the first scents created by Madame Zed were sold for about several months only,
while My Sin was previously launched in the most common bottles without a
label, even. When the demand for the new fragrance went up, Lanvin proceeded to
manufacturing the fragrance in new bottles designed by the sketches of the
famous French designer and artist Paul Iribe. The bottles were labeled by the
image of a mother and a daughter. After the release of My Sin, Lanvin launched the
lighter version of the original fragrance, My Sin Eau de Lanvin, which warmer
and richer heart accords were slightly noted in the bouquet of aldehydes and
spring flowers.
Lanvin My
Sin would not avoid the end of the most vintage fragrances as of today that are
wrongly forgotten and are found only in collections of the devoted perfume
lovers. My Sin was discontinued in 1988 and later on, when Lanvin came with the
idea to re-launch some of its most popular fragrances of the 20s and 30s, the
fragrance created by Madame Zed was not included in that list of perfumery.
