Surgiderm
is a French preparation of a new generation designed for contour correction
procedures. Its effect is principally similar to other skin fillers, such as
Restylane, with which it shares an effective component - hyaluronic acid. But
unlike other similar preparations, it has a much wider scope of application. Generally
speaking, Surgiderm is not a preparation, but a product range which includes
multiple preparations with different physical and chemical properties and is
based on the patented cross-linking process called «3D Hyaluronic Acid Matrix
Technology».
This technology is claimed to allow for a tighter, more uniform,
and greater number of cross-link structures - allowing greater resistance to
degradation, meaning that it claims to last longer than other hyaluronic based
fillers. Surgiderm range meets all international quality standards, including
requirement for full biocompatibility, which is ensured by hyaluronic acid as
the main active ingredient, similar to the skin. Therefore, Surgiderm does not
cause any allergic reactions.
Hyaluronic
acid is a substance that is normally produced by the body and is what gives
skin its volume and fullness. When due to ageing or under the effect of other factors
such as solar radiation, hyaluronic acid becomes scarce, the characteristic
expression lines and wrinkles are formed, skin becomes thin and dry, and peels off.
However, Surgiderm
is used not only for reversal of age-related changes, but also for other procedures,
such as reshaping lips contour, correction of cheekbones lines, removing acne scars.
Everything that a woman does not like about her face now can be corrected non-invasively,
using various Surgiderm products. In general, the lines and wrinkles are
softened; the lips are plumped up and given more definition. The degree of
correction is dependent on the patient's wishes and the amount of product used.
Results are also dependent on a patient's skin type and facial structure, their
life style and their own perception.
The advantages
of Surgiderm range are its security, and very natural-looking results. If the
procedure is performed by a qualified professional, the effect is very natural,
with no sharp lines and other similar defects, as hyaluronic acid is completely
broken down within the skin over a period of months, eventually leaving no
trace of the filler.
As
mentioned above, Surgiderm uses so-called «3D Hyaluronic Acid Matrix Technology»,
owing to which a durable matrix structure is formed in the skin after the
injection of Surgiderm. This matrix ensures long-term lasting effect of the
product on the area. Thus, Surgiderm is one of the most effective dermal
fillers for delicate low-scale body correction. On average, the effects of
Surgiderm last for between 6 to 9 months. This depends upon the degree of
correction required, patient's age and lifestyle as well as the correct
placement of the product by a practitioner. However, the effect may be reduced
under the influence of various factors, such as smoking, solar radiation,
patient's individual body characteristics, such as age and skin condition.
Surgiderm products
are typically introduced under local anesthesia. To obtain satisfactory results,
prior to the procedure the patient should discuss all aspects of the procedure
in detail, including risks, side effects and counter indications. Also, proper
Surgiderm product should be selected to suit patient's needs.
For
example, Surgiderm 18 is designed for injection into the superficial dermis for
fine lines such as laughter lines around the eyes and the smoker lines or peri-oral
lines above the top lip, while Surgiderm 30 is designed for injection into the
deep dermis for treatment of deep lines and wrinkles and deep skin depressions.
Surgiderm 30 XP is designed for injection into all three levels of the dermis
and can be used for the treatment of medium and deep skin depressions, the
enhancement of volume, such as cheek atrophy or sunken areas, and also for
enhancing the border of the lips (vermillion border). Another product, Surgilips,
is designed for injection into the lips and peri-oral area around the mouth and
can be used for filling smoker's lines, redefining the contour of the lips
(vermillion border) and increasing the volume of the lips themselves. The
fluidity of this filler allows excellent diffusion of the product, giving
natural results and avoiding the «duck mouth» effect
As a dermal
filler, Surgiderm has the same risks associated as with other dermal fillers.
Risks can include a small risk of allergic reaction to the filler or bruising
of the treated area. Bleeding, tenderness and small amounts of pain may also
occur. People with a history of cold sores may experience a recurrence after
treatment, although this can be minimized by the use of antiviral medicines. In
addition, Surgiderm is not recommended for pregnant and breast-feeding women.
