Lingerie fashion
trends change as quickly as clothing trends. Inspired by the haute couture
collections, lingerie designers offer for 2010 a variety of hot and extremely
flattering styles in the fetish vein, and have a new take on the vintage style,
which, as we know, is never getting old.
Fetish Chic
The fetish elements
have trickled to the new lingerie collection from the haute couture catwalks:
the most reputable designers took to provocative styles for inspiration to
reinterpret the fetish chic in their creations. As it turned out, abundant
metal detail, plenty of leather and latex are good both in fashion clothing and
lingerie. For example, Agent Provocateur's latest lingerie collection is based
around the interplay of seductive and delicate lace and blatantly erotic detail
suggestive of fetish style: sumptuous satin bustiers, delicate lace trim, and stockings
and garter belts. Moreover, bringing the fetish chic to the utmost, bustiers from
the new Soiree line by Agent Provocateur are embellished with metal studs. Another
British brand, Bordelle, used fetish chic motives to turn its lingerie into
pieces of art: Bordelle lingerie collection included intricately cut black bustiers
with decorative zippers and metal accents.
Vintage Look
Although vintage style as such is never obsolete, vintage-inspired look
is especially hot for 2010. Many lingerie collections, from Stella McCartney to
La Perla, from Kate Moss (Topshop collection) anf Dita Von Teese (Wonderbra
collection) include vintage elements. Stella McCartney's lingerie line featured best specimens of retro style:
lightweight slips, comfortable silk panties with lace trim, all distinguished
by recognizable vintage cut. As McCartney's said, her collection was inspired
by 1920's and 1950's fashion trends. Her lingerie collection challenges the
widespread belief that comfy underwear cannot be sexy and tempting.
British supermodel
Kate Moss, a known vintage junkie, added a line of retro-styled lingerie pieces
to her collection for Topshop, while Dita Von Teese, the famous burlesque
dancer, chose vintage glamour of 1940' and 1950' as a main source of
inspiration for her collection for Wonderbra.
Underwear as Outerwear
A noteworthy trend, present in many designer collections, is «underwear
as outerwear» look. For instance, a bustier is coming into limelight as one of
this season's wardrobe staples, making a transition from lingerie to outerwear.
Dolce & Gabbana and Bottega Veneta combine simple bustiers in neutral
shades with skirts and pants, while John Galliano whose collection for
Christian Dior is all about elegance and seduction, presented a line of chic
bustiers with delicate lace trim in contrasting colors, combining them with
satin skirts. Underwear as outerwear trend is really going to blow up this spring,
lingerie inspired looks have been all over the catwalk from Dior to Proenza
Schouler.
Bold Colors
Along with timeless
colors - black, white and nude - many lingerie collections for 2010 included
pieces in rainbow shades. The hottest colors include rich jewel tones - ruby,
emerald, and amethyst. Victoria's Secret's collection included lingerie pieces
in fuchsia pink and chocolate browns, and lace panties and matching bra with
leopard print which will make you feel sexy, no matter how many layers you are
wearing.
