Wedding gown
designers offer fabulous collections from season to season taking attempts to introduce
something fresh and new in traditional wedding fashion. They play with colors
or tailoring, they transform the length of the traditional veil or offer
something too outrageous that stay demonstrated at runways but the designer vision
is then discussed a lot. In the meantime, unusual wedding dress is not only a new
color or original style introduced, but as the most unique wedding dresses
collection shows, the material used can amaze sometimes when plain household
items are applied for such a solemn events.
Rubber items
The British
artist an sculptor Susie MacMurray managed to create the exclusive limited edition
wedding dress out of 1400 rubber gloves. Nevertheless, a wedding rubber dress is
not able to put on for even for the most adventurous bride since the dress is
rather a sculpture to be exhibited as an art work at the New York Museum of Art
and Design.
The American
designer Jack used rubber items either for his daring solutions. A
successful slint of the
popular reality show Project Runway created a dress of lots of condoms.
The reason
of using such a delicate material was a special fashion show arranged by
the American
Charity Organization to struggle with AIDS Project Inform two years ago
and Mackenroth
made a wedding dress out of two thousand condoms and lots of glue to
attract
the attention of public to this social problem. It is interesting that
the
designer suffers from allergy to latex and thus, all those two thousand
condoms
had to be unpacked by his assistant. Apart from the dress, the headwear
was also made from condoms. For the sake of fair the fact should be
noted
that Jack Mackenroth did not manage to set the record when in 2006 in
New York in the context
of the World AIDS Day a wedding dress was introduced made out of 12.5
thousand
colored condoms.
Tissue-based
dresses
A wedding
dress made from the household tissue is also unusual and eye-catching. However,
creation of wedding dresses from the household tissue is made a tradition of
kind and the American internet-shop of wedding dresses and accessories announce
tenders for wedding dresses from tissue for about six years and the
designer-beginners and just adventurers take part in such a trouble-free
competition. This the award goes to the resident of Israeli, a woman who made a
really stunning wedding dress from the household tissue- short, white color
with the frivolous puffy skirt that looked as the delicate cocktail dress but
not a hand-made garment from such a plain household tissue.
Newspaper-based dresses
Gary Harvey ignored household tissue
but used ordinary newspaper to make his unusual wedding dress. He used 30 copies of the Financial Times that
he folded and attached to a salmon corset of pink color to create a tulle
skirt. And he also bitterly regretted that newspapers could be recycled but not
the information printed in thereof. Harvey worked
for Levi’s Company for ten years making a wedding dress out of 40 sheets of
various newspapers for the Food for Thought: Sustainable Fashion at the Museum
in Germany.
Such a dress can be tried on once only and it is not for real wedding event
though ideas are really striking.
Parachute for
wedding dress
One of the
oddest wedding dresses is the one made from parachute, old parachute cloth,
manufactured several decades ago. The point is that the designer did not plan
to make a dress from every parachute to go and purchase at the special shop but
the one that saved his life. it was an American military pilot Claude Hunsingers
who escaped from death in 1945 in Japan. Back in America, he was
planning to get married and he offered a wedding gown for his bride from that
old parachute. Inspired by the experience of Scarlet who made a dress from the
curtain and with the help of tailors a wedding dress was finally ready which turned
to be very beautiful opening shoulders, a puffy skirt went in soft folds and a
long trail made a dress into a really fairy dress.
