Ever
classic things are seen in every fashion sphere; just consider a little black
dress, jeans, white shirt falling to the category of classic stuff ever claimed
by people who appreciate comfort and good look. The same is with pilot glasses aka aviators. As we know fashion changes recurrently
but this trait does not have a vital effect onto these styled things that are
next to us for many decades.
Aviators are
sought-after for the time being and they never got outdated to be thought behind
the times and event the sign of bad manners. If you regard as the major trends for
glasses there are «butterfly» styled glasses so trendy today and strict square
glasses demanded about 15 years ago, and John Lennon-styled round glasses. And
throughout these years we have pilot glasses in the reserve ranked classic
genre sitting silently by us.
The glasses
got its name «pilot glasses» not for incidental purposes. In the year 1929 Bausch&Lomb
Company, well-known to those who wear contact lens today, suggested this shape
of glasses for US pilots. Performance-tested sunglasses with classic aviator
styling has been a favorite of U.S.
military pilots for more than 40 years.
The rough
and strong structure and high quality finishing of the steel alloy frame together
with distortion free, toughened and polished true color glass lens have made
the glasses the standard bearer of all fine military sunglasses.
Once the appropriate material was found for such glasses, everybody realized
the functionality and comfort of them. The initial model designed for pilots
considered all problems pilots mostly face with. Thus, bright glares are neutralized
fully absorbed by the mirror lens, while the eyes were reliably protected since
the special «drop-shaped» glasses do not pass the light through with the tight
correct anatomical shape. Bausch&Lomb Company is just the pioneer in
invention of the universal shape of glasses, while the reputed glasses
manufacturer Ray-Ban launched the model in 1937 affordable and available to
anyone who appreciates the advantages of the comfortable stylish aviators. Since
that time the glass-making industry has undergone sea changes. Ordinary people and
movie stars exercise many glasses of various shapes and they go back to
aviators again and again through all the times and fashion trends. The true golden
epoch came for glasses in 70s when disco fashion arose and aviators were the part
and parcel of discothèques with luminosity and glitzy light with fashion music performed
by Boney M and ABBA musical groups. The macho movie stars still showed off
wearing such glasses in the 80s. In the beginning of the millennium it was
Jennifer Lopez who appeared in her video wearing half-translucent aviators to
make the glasses demanded by millions of women and girls in the shortest time because
of that new fashion element added to those old-time glasses. Primarily, aviators
were designed as mirror glasses and later on the model was replaced by darker
glasses with the tendency to have translucent lens to let people see how
beautiful women look behind those aviators.
Currently aviators
enjoy the popularity as much and often as in the 80s. That time aviators were
of primary set frame and today we see various models of glasses. Earlier only
the shape and mirror lens were emphasized and today both may be changed to meet
the tastes of the consumer. Traditional classis aviators were fragile and now
the frame is manufactured from metal alloys to ensure strength to models. Thin metal
ark is not a must now and we see models especially loved by Valentino and
Giorgio Armani where both lenses are smoothly attached to each other without
distinct borders.
Grey,
dark-green and brown colors are trendy for the aviator glasses. And today translucent
models are more preferred to the mirror ones. However, de luxe model may be
chosen, like aviators launched by Roberto Cavalli encrusted with Swarovski
crystals.
Aviator
glasses go with different face types, though if are the owner of the thin and
long face you'd better look for another shape of glasses. The aviator shape
makes the face longer, and if you intend to balance the shape of your face with
the wide forehead and triangle chin, such glasses are perfect for you.
Aviator
glasses are not limited to specific gender. Initially the shape was designed for
men only, and if you want to look more masculine, you will have a good choice
if you get aviators.
