Each year
the festival called Oktoberfest is held for 16 days in Munich
(Munchen), Germany,
running from late September to early October. Be sure that it is one of the
most celebrated events in Germany
and the world's largest known fair attended by about 6 million people from
every part of the world and this occasion is an important part of Bavarian
culture.
This is the
world's best beer gulping down, sausage guzzling, singing standing on tables, and
debauched and lederhosen wearing especially for the event. The well-known Oktoberfest
is just the reason to come back to Bavaria.
Once you visited Bavaria,
whether in summer, in winter, in the fall of beer months, you will fancy coming
back again and again. Bavaria is one of the stunning
and emotionally intensive and rich areas of Germany,
while Munich, Nürnberg, Bamberg
are worth to be called the pearls of Europe.
The image of
Nürnberg is rather dramatic for the Russians since the Great Patriotic War was
initiated here.
Nürnberg today
is the marvelous place; it is comfortable, vivid and incredibly
friendly. Like any
one of ancient European countries, Nürnberg offers a variety of routes
to just stroll.
You arewelcome to walk and enjoy the scenes of old castles and the
restaurant over the river, with the banks overgrown with willow and
connected with the narrow wooden bridges. You leisurely walk between
the fountain «Marital
roundabout» that is specially designed to demonstrate the good and the
bad
things that occur in the marriage and to the modern shoes and clothes.
There is a plenty
of small family hotels in Nürnberg and in Bavaria with an incredible ratio of «price
to quality» when you pay 50 Euros a day and you will take a break in a large
wonderful room where you find fresh flowers every single day and your breakfast
served by the owners themselves will have the menu that a rare «brand» hotel
offering «Swiss table» may compete with it. The breakfast includes several
kinds of tea and coffee, fresh-made juices, lots of baked goods, ham, sausages,
cheese and fruit. On the top of it, the eggs served to the table will be made
exactly to what you customarily eat, hard-boiled or just boiled, as omelets or sunny
side up.
Nürnberg has
a half-million population which is relatively significant value in view of
demography in Germany, and Nürnberg
does second big city after Bavaria and Munich. Nevertheless, this is cozy, comfortable and
safe city, and the criminal cases that happen in Nürnberg from time to time are
100% detected. You are strongly recommended that you visit the Toy Museum, the
Imperial Kaizenburg, the House Museum by Albrecht Dürer, and if you happen to appear
in Bavaria
during the Christmas Eve days, you'll enjoy the legendary Nürnberg Christmas
Bazaar that is like a visit card of the city. There you will find whatever you
can imagine for the holiday, from the Christmas decorations, toys, cakes to a
variety of tiny figurines that offer to create the set of Bible characters on
your own, and those who chilled and get tired will be offered hot mulled wine and
Bavarian sausages! It is so much enjoyable and pleasant to walk along Nürnberg if
you want to draw some more information about the city. The city administration caused
to build up simple and noticeable guides to all city places of interest, and
yet the tour agencies recommend the brochures in different languages to help
you instead of a guide when seeing the city.
When you are
in Munich (München), in other words, the «Athens on the Isar
River», you are in the
place that is a real combination of glamour and provincialism. Yet, you'd
better pay your special concentration upon the Nymphenburg Palace.
The palace is so glorious and fascinating to admire the interior decorations,
the exterior landscape including the spacious parks with all the lakes and
canals and garden chalets. Make sure to visit Bamberg, the city which was in the year 1933 included
into the UNESCO World Heritage. All the houses, avenues, castles, gardens and
other structures are beautifully elegant in this city, and at the same time
they are harmonically play in the everyday life of natives who work and love,
enjoy and get tired, respect and protect their city and their country.
Bavaria is not only the place to accumulate
positive feelings and impressions for the rest of your life, you can also have
the healing effect from this place. Thanks to its geological peculiarities, this
place boosts the majority of salty, mineral and thermal sources, clinics where
you are offered to try various cosmetic procedures on the base of local healing
glue.
So, we are aware
that Oktoberfest is the staple of the Bavarian show for tourists, and still, be
ready to get surprised more again! The first Oktoberfest took place in Munich in the year 1810,
to honor the wedding of the crown prince Ludwig of Bavaria and the princess Therese
of Saxon-Hildburghausen. The wedding festival lasted for 5 days with forty
thousand people invited to celebrate it who enjoyed over 4 million liters of
beer. In 1999 the Oktoberfest was recorded in the Guinness's Book of Records
when 7 million people arrived here to the festival. The holiday lasted for 2 week
with over 6 million beer drunk, 120 bulls eaten, half a million Bavarian
sausages and 2 million pretzels swallowed.
German beer
is something to talk hours; it is light and strong, in the variety of colors,
from the light to dark, though incredibly tasteful and pure. German brewers still
keep the mark «1516» on the label to their beer that stands for «brewed under
the Bavarian Law on Pure Beer dd. 1516».
But Oktoberfest is not only associated with beer and food.
It is a whole life that lasts for
some time once a year, including carousels, shooting ranges, dances, musicians
and endless lines of souvenir shops.
This is a big
fair, never-ceasing, sensational and flamboyant, that is only enjoyed.
