Life is changeable, as anything in this world, all is in a
state of flux, nothing is constant and we are aware of it. And we change our
attitude towards the leisure places. Many resorts lost the fame of the best and
the most prestigious recreational area while the others turn to be fashionable
and famous. So, in 1990 the Canaries and other costly tropic islands were a
household name affordable by the wealthy. And today, the resorts affordable to
medium class population are in the center of attention and promotion. The
much-talked about Egypt and Turkey seem to be places people get a little bit
sick of visiting, and so the new fashionable craze is known – to rest in
countries of South and East Asia, in particularly in Thailand. And one of the
popular Thai resorts at the moment is the Phuket Island.
Phuket is
located at the southwestern coast of Thailand
as the small Island measuring 21 kilometers in
width and 28
kilometers in length. The population of the Island is about 250 thousand people, and out of which 85 thousand
live in the administrative capital of Phuket town. The population of the
country is different in ethnicity, as any other Asian country or region. The
majority of the population is Buddhist though there is a noteworthy number of
Muslims in Phuket, who are mainly descendants of the island's original
sea-dwelling people. Chinese make up an even larger populace, many of whom
having descended from migrated tin miners.
The island
is covered with forest for 70% which is actively cut out for the sake of human
activity. The western and eastern coasts are covered with sand beaches
which seem to be neat and well-cared in the west of the island. Moreover, there
is a variety of small islets at the Island which are also the cheesecake for
lovers of real tropic rest. There are three climatic seasons in this region and
only one season is stable that lasts from March to April when it is too hot and
too humid. The characteristics of the other two seasons rely upon the way of
sea winds and monsoons. The season that lasts from November to February is the
most appropriate for the rest.
Phuket is popular among the tourists from all over the world
for the amazing climatic conditions and a variety of leisure versions. People
usually visit the Island for beaches, first of all. The major beach of the
Phuket Island is Patong, the largest beach. Besides, the rocky capes of Phuket are
too popular among tourists which are separated from one another to form
detached and isolated recreational areas. The majority likes bathing and
swimming in waters of the numerous islets around Phuket located in the Phang
Nga or at Phi-Phi islands which are famous for amazing natural conditions,
crystal pure water and facts that the movie Beach was shot in there in 2000
starring Leonardo Di Caprio.
People
visit Phuket for the active but not extreme recreational time. And these
tourists are offered excursions to suburbs of the capital, the Wat Chalong with
the cast statue of Luang Pho Cham, who helped the people of Phuket put down the
Angyee in 1876 during the reign of Rama V, or the Sea-Ray, the heaven of Gypsy
nation or the sea gypsies, the unique culture and traditions of which did not
change throughout centuries. There is an opportunity to visit the special Thai
village built following local traditions to give tourists the chance to live a
life of natives. Furthermore, a small sea
pearl cultivating plantation is located there. The National Park is offered for
visitors created in 70s to protect tropic forests and faunas. Those who love
diving are offered a lot of chances to enjoy the underwater kingdom where
special outboard motor boats are shipped from special stations.
Once you
arrive to Phuket for the night life entertainments, you are offered everything
to enjoy your time there. The night life in Patong is too active which
is the tourist capital of the Island. A majority of hotels and exotic markets
are located there. Besides, night bars and clubs are found there to meet the
tastes of those who enjoy cheering after the day is over. most of such
entertainment buildings are located in Bang-La Road Street the traffic of which
is blocked for the night time. This street is famous to place many buildings
offering sex-tourism souveniers.
Phuket is the real place for cheerful and merry vocation
though the history of the Island has tragic facts. The most drastic events
occurred here in December 2004, during the tsunami caused by the strongest and
largest sea earthquake on the bottom of the Indian Sea. Approximately 300
thousand people were killed in the southeastern region of Asia. Phuket was also damaged and over 250
thousand people perished there on December 26, 2004 mostly being tourists from
foreign countries. On the top of it, there is evidence that the number
of perished people was higher than announced, over thousand and there is no
accurate data on workers illegally working in Burma who were occupied in
construction of hotels in Phuket.
In spite of these sad facts, the life in Phuket quickly
revived and in two months most of local hotels гостиниц renewed their activity
and by November 2005 the figures of tourist industry came to the usual course.
