Thailand is
the Exotic Country, exactly in capital letters. And diving in
the Andaman Sea and in the Gulf of Siam makes it as sub water
part. Yet, it goes without saying that under water you have a chance see not only the
starfish, but also any other stars famous on the earth. Well, you should not miss the chance to add
some exotics to your impressions made by these places.
Phuket is
the «pearl» for the Princess Beatrice
Phuket
Island is one of the popular resorts in Thailand and one of the well-known
diving places in Andaman Sea. Phuket is called the «Pearl of the South». Celebs
often come here just to have a look at the colorful underwater kingdom. Thus,
quite recently the Princess Beatrice of Great Britain had a provisional diving lesson
in Phuket. You will certainly like diving lessons since they are easy and pleasant to
anyone, from a newcomer to experienced divers for there very different
conditions offered to satisfy tastes of many. Those who like adventures will
like gardens of soft and solid corals, caves and sunken ships; the ones who love
to be trained diving will get to see sandy bays with shallow water. By the way,
it is far more comfortable to get to many other popular dive sites in Thailand.
You may dive from the shore and the
dive-boat within the frames of one- or days-long safari along neighboring
islands. Under the water you will see
Tiger Sharks in Shark Point and graceful devilfish in Racha Noi apart from runs
of small colorful fishes and schools of sea pikes. Also you will find it
interesting to dive to the talismans against tsunami mounted on the bottom.
Similan
Islands - high-class diving in Thailand
According
to the ‘Skin Diving Magazine', Similan Islands are included in the Top Ten Most
Beautiful Places in the World and it is the dive-site No. 1 in Thailand. This is the
group of nine desert islands lying not far away from the border of Thai and Burma
waters. Similan Islands were awarded the status of the National Marine Park.
And it is no wonder why; the local coral reefs are approximately 5 thousand
years old! This is the oldest coral masses in Thailand. The main peculiarity
for diving on the Similan Islands is fantastical subwater landscape, in
particular enormous sunken granite boulders and rocks that create quaint arks, caves
and tunnels covered by the brilliant carpet of soft corals. And the additional
advantage is the perfect visibility and ideal conditions for underwater photo
shooting. The frequent guests of the
Similan Islands are tiger sharks and whitetip reef sharks, Napoleon wrasses, shockfishes,
schools of barracuda and tunny fish. And there is the only disappointing
moment- there are no hotels and the ground amusements. And it is possible to
get here only by dive-boats during safari trips.
Phi-Phi
Islands used to be as the decorations for divers while shooting the «Beach», Hollywood
movie starring DiCaprio
Phi-Phi
Islands won the fame of the most picturesque islands in Thailand, and very
likely that in the whole world. They look very astonishing under water and
above water equally. From the above you will enjoy affecting rocks, tropical
jungles, and Paradise beaches with white fine sand polished by the pure blue
water. It is the perfect decoration to any Hollywood movies! From the beneath
heughs are covered with soft corals, enigmatic limestone caves, runs of motley
fish, bushes of gorgonian and other solid corals. The dream of the scuba diver
only! The most popular places for diving at Phi Phi is the Koh Bidah Nok and
Koh Bida Noi, which are ideal for diving by the walls (so called wall diving) with
the chance to admire a choice of corals and run of barracudas. You will very often meet
here tortoises and sometimes tiger sharks. Those who love diving into caves
will appreciate the Wang Long Bay nearby one of the famous and the most
beautiful subwater caves in the South-East Asia. Yet, Maya Bay attracts
visitors and predominantly divers not only with its alive underwater life (it
provides really wonderful conditions for a fresher), but with above-water life
as well. And the famous movie «Beach» was shot exactly in this place with starring
Leonardo DiCaprio.
Krabi - in
search of adventures by Jean-Claude Van Damme
The Krabi
province is like Phuket without any tourist ballyhoos, that Phuket as it was a
few decades ago. All is changed in our life, certainly, and here the large
hotels, restaurants and diving-centers are gradually erected, but exactly in Krabi
you will find the eternal nature of Thailand non-touched by human beings,
namely the pure sea, lonely coves, bushes of coconut palms, virginal corals and
desert emerald islands. They say that this area of the South Thailand was
opened by the brave Sindbad The Sailor and a while later the movie «In Search
of Adventures» with starring Jean-Claude Van Damme was shot here. So, if you want to feel like
you are an adventurer welcome to Krabi! And yet, Krabi is an excellent place
for a quiet and relaxing Krabi-diving and trainings on this kind of sports.
There are over 200 species of fish and approximately 80 sorts of corals here. Enjoy
seeing tiger sharks warming in the shallow water in the mornings, small groups
of quids, groupers and lobsters, runs of barracudas. The special rocky relief of Krabi is liked by
many tourists. On the surface rock climbers choose the limestone rocks while
under water the divers enjoy pictorial grottoes and splits with crowds of
corals. We advise the rest in Krabi even to those who are afraid of diving but
who would like to see sharks clearly and if you are lucky you may observe these
killers while swimming on the water surface with the mask and a tube.
Koh Samui
is the time of «no season!»
The Samui
Island in the Siam Bay yields a bit to Phuket in popularity though there are
all attributes of high-class resort, like luxury hotels of popular top brands
('Le Meridien', 'Imperial'), joyful night life, extensive sightseeing program
and, certainly, the developed industry of diving. The submarine near Samui and
neighboring islands, Koh Tao, for instance, is rich in soft and solid corals,
runs of motley fishes and pictorial subwater rocks. A pleasant feature of the
local diving is frequent «games» with the whale shark, an enormous but harmless
and very magnificent. But the most important activity here is the chance to
dive in summer times, when there is a rainy season in Phuket and Similan
Islands. So, do you have your flippers and a mask ready for diving? You only
need to go and buy a ticket for trip and go to win tropical seas and lands of Thailand!
Just go ahead!
